The ingredients needed to make cottage pie:
  1. Take 1/2 kg mince beef
  2. Prepare 2 each white onions
  3. Prepare 1/2 packages sliced mushrooms
  4. Get 2 tsp lazy chilli in a jar or 1/2 fresh red chilii
  5. Take 1/2 cup worcester sauce
  6. Get 300 ml cold water
  7. Get 3 each carrots
  8. Prepare 1 tbsp white flour
  9. Prepare 1/2 bunch of fresh tarragon
  10. Make ready 1/2 tube of double concentrated tomato puree
  11. Make ready 1 large potatoes for mash such as maris piper
  12. Prepare 1 dash of milk
  13. Make ready 1 spoon or two of butter
  14. Make ready 1 handful of bay leaves

Fluffy mash and hearty mince make cottage pie a classic for all the right reasons. I used only sweet potatoes and it tasted great! I used a tiny bit more mustard and it gave it just the right. Making this recipe is easy as… well, pie.

Steps to make cottage pie:
  1. chop carrots onions and mushrooms quite chunky
  2. put enough olive oil in wok or deep frying pan to cook veggies but not fry. just enough to coat them and not burn…
  3. start with carrots for about 2 mins so they soften a little
  4. add onions and let them soften a touch but not brown
  5. ads mince and brown
  6. once mince is no longer pink add mushrooms and cook for 2 to 3 mins till mushrooms have softened. if using lazy chilli add now or if fresh add before adding meat.
  7. add bay leaves and beef stock depending how spicy/ salty you prefer it. I tend to you a spoon of spice called Vegeta available from Polish section at supermarkets instead of stock
  8. whisk called water and flour until smooth and pour into pan
  9. add generous glug of Worcester sauce and bring slowly to boil. then add 3/4 of tube of tomato puree
  10. bring slowly to boil and add chopped tarragon and simmer while your potatoes are boiling
  11. serve mash with mixture as it is or put meat mix in casserole and cover with a layer of mash and cook in oven until potato starts going golden browb
  12. for potatoes peel cut into chunks and boil in salted water until soft. once cooked drain and return into pain on low heat until water has evaporated. then add bit of milk to same pan with potatoes still in it an gently bring to boil. keep on low heat ans start mashing as soon as milk is hot. keep on low heat and keep mashing adding bit of butter at the time until you're happy with texture.
  13. serve either as mash and sauce or put sauce in ovenproof dish and too with mash until bubbling away and potato golden brown
  14. serve with fresh garden peas

I used a tiny bit more mustard and it gave it just the right. Making this recipe is easy as… well, pie. Prick the potatoes all over with a fork, then rub with a little oil. Heat a large sauté pan until hot. Add the vegetable oil and fry the beef until just browned.
