Hey everyone, it’s John, welcome to our recipe page. Today, we’re going to make a distinctive dish, libyan shakshuka. One of my favorites food recipes. For mine, I am going to make it a little bit unique. This will be really delicious.

Libyan Shakshuka is one of the most favored of current trending foods on earth. It is easy, it is quick, it tastes yummy. It is enjoyed by millions every day. They’re fine and they look fantastic. Libyan Shakshuka is something which I’ve loved my entire life.

Libyan Shakshuka is a dish of eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce. We enjoyed this dish as the main course of our Libyan meal with some Libyan bread. I don't know why we don't eat eggs for the main meal of the day more often. I always have an abundance of eggs thanks to our four Buff-Orphington chickens who lay beautiful brown eggs nearly every day.

To begin with this particular recipe, we must prepare a few ingredients. You can have libyan shakshuka using 12 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Libyan Shakshuka:
  1. Make ready Olive oil, for sautéing
  2. Prepare 1 large red onion, halved and sliced
  3. Take 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  4. Take 1 red pepper, deseeded and cut into 1.5cm chunks
  5. Make ready 400 g can chopped tomatoes
  6. Make ready 1 tsp ground cumin
  7. Get 2 tsp smoked paprika
  8. Make ready 4 eggs
  9. Prepare 100 g feta cheese
  10. Get Kosher salt
  11. Make ready Ground black pepper
  12. Prepare Chilli flakes, to serve

Though Shakshuka is relatively easy to prepare by anyone, proper. Chuck the lamb into a mixing bowl. Add the garlic, paprika, Turkish pepper flakes and a good pitch of salt. Mix well and form into little oval shaped kofta.

Steps to make Libyan Shakshuka:
  1. Sauté the onion and garlic in a little olive oil over a medium heat for about 8 mins until the onion is softened.
  2. Add the red pepper and sauté for another 3-4 minutes until its beginning to soften.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes, cumin and smoked paprika. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Simmer for around 20 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and the flavour intensifies.
  5. Once the sauce has thickened, make 4 wells in the sauce. Crack an egg into each well and simmer away until the eggs are cooked. Don't overdo it as you want the yolks to be soft. About 6-8 minutes should suffice.
  6. Crumble over the feta before serving with the chilli flakes.

Add the garlic, paprika, Turkish pepper flakes and a good pitch of salt. Mix well and form into little oval shaped kofta. Heat the oil in a large non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. Brown the kofta for a few minutes on both sides. Remove from the pan and set to one side.
