  7. Make ready 1 cup sugar

Strain the cooled syrup through a sieve, then pour the syrup over the warm baklava.   3. Add 3 layers of strudel or phyllo pastry with butter between each layer. Add another layer of nut mixture. Repeat one more time.
  4. Last layer should be like first layer with 5 strudel or phyllo pastry sheets. Butter between each layer.
  5. Cut into squares right to the bottom of the dish.
  6. Bake in 160°C oven for 1 hour 15 minutes or until top layer is golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven, let cool slightly. Pour syrup over baklava.
  8. Enjoy with a cup of tea!

Nut mixture-pistachios, walnuts, hazelnut, sugar, ground cinnamon, pinch of ground cloves. You can change the nut mixture according to what you have. Remove the baklava from the oven and spoon half the cooled syrup over the top. Many ethnic festivals are held in my city throughout the year. One in May is the Greek Hellenic Festival.
